Avoiding Tyre Failures

...

If the disc is dented, or is extensively corroded, or the alloy is damaged for instance, depending on the budget and on whether the disc or alloy is reparable, it is advised to take all the necessary actions and make sure the wheel is repaired or changed as appropriately through a mechanical service provider.

Care need to be taken when parking so not to hit a curb and if there is not enough space or you are unsure, find another place.

Worn and overinflated tyres are not a good combination.

Punctures

Side punctures are normally not repairable. A new tyre may be needed. Anyhow, if you notice any nail, check if it has really punctured the tyre by slowly pulling it out. If it has, try to place it back on and tighten it as much as you can. Drive to the nearest garage and repair or change as necessary.

Check Tyre Pressure Regularly

Always check tyre pressure regularly so to avoid under/over inflating of the tyres.

The tyres will last a lot longer and the car will drive a lot nicer by having the right balance, full grip on the road and also better fuel consumption.

Check the tyre condition

It is best to make sure all tyres are in good condition and make sure you change the worn tyres before the last resort. This way you allow yourself more time to negotiate the price and have a choice to choose the tyres.

When driving at high speeds knowing to have tyres in good condition, it reassures you and be more confident in your driving.

Driving Downhill

Make sure you always drive slower when downhill as it is harder to break comparing to driving uphill. This also depends on the steepness of the road.

Make sure to keep good distance at all times depending on the speed you are driving and never close the gap, especially by overtaking from the left and don't just cut drivers very near especially trucks with heavy loads as they may not be able to stop.

Tracking

After new tyres are put on your car or any service completed affects the tracking of your vehicle. It is always best to complete the tracking as well in order to avoid sided worn tyres which generate higher hit on the surface of the tyre as well. Tracking helps the way the car drives, protect the tyres and the long term investment.

Tyre Performance Checking

After the tracking of the tyres is completed, a performance checking can be done. The performance of your car can be checked by a computer system which stimulates the driving on the road.

Tyres kept on the car for a really long time

Sometimes when you keep the tyres on the car for a long time (or maybe the previous owner has) due to not using the car much or using another car, the tyres may get naturally damaged and need changing.

New Tyres VS Used Tyres

It is best to always go for brand new tyres comparing to used ones as you could be changing them two to three times more often and literally does not save you any investment. Depending on the make and on the way the car is driven the tyres will last accordingly.

Loud Music

The driver is in touch with the vehicle. If you notice your car changes the way it drives (This could also happen when driving at high winds and rainy conditions but this is fine, it is supposed to happen. Just drive slower as most drivers do and watch out for speed changing's signs at motorways)

If you hear any unusual noise or anything else, especially in normal weather conditions, stop in a safe place when you can and check if any of the tyres is deflated.

To hear better what is going on around you, it is best to avoid listening to loud music, especially at high speeds, like motorways.

Try to avoid delaying the emergency services. If you notice them earlier you can anticipate so quickly and safely you can position the car appropriately.

Speeding

The more you speed the least grip you have on the road. Over speeding on bends, before reaching T Junctions, exit slip roads and roundabouts it is not advised.
